Yes, this is a blog dedicated to all things holiday, but in our home, Prime Day is a major holiday! We use Prime Day to get a jump start on our holiday shopping in order to ensure a stress-free Christmas. With the number of deals happening over the two-day period it would be foolish of me NOT to try to get in some pre-holiday shopping. In fact, some of the deals you find on Prime Day are far better than Black Friday.

Wait, What is Prime Day?

In short, it’s the Black Friday of the Summer.

Specifically, Amazon Prime Day is a sale held once a year exclusively on Amazon for Prime members AND Prime Students. The deals during Prime Day are the best you will find all year. If you are anything like me and start your holiday shopping early this sale is for you!

Amazon Prime Day originated in 2015 as a reward for Prime members being loyal Amazon shoppers. The annual shopping extravaganza, which takes place every summer was pushed to mid-October last year due to the pandemic. Prime Day offers some of the best deals of the year making it the ideal time to stock up on electronics, housewares, gifts, and more. With more than 2 million deals to shop from, there is truly something for everyone.

Personally, I use PRIME DAY to get a jump start on my Christmas shopping. There are so many items that go on sale that I know will make perfect gifts for those on my list this year. The savings make storing the items for months well worth it!

Competition for Prime Day?

Target has entered the digital sales space this year is a HUGE way. Earlier this week, Target announced its own two-day all digital sale set to rival Prime Day from June 20-22. It’s no surprise that Amazon chose to push up their Prime Day dates after hearing the news about Target’s plans to enter the space. It will be interesting to see if Walmart or other large retailers join in the mega digital sale game this summer. More mega sales equal more opportunities for you to purchase items you need for a fraction of the cost.

Sounds great but When can I shop?

Mark your calendars! Amazon announced this year’s sale as just under three weeks away. Normally we have more time to prepare but as long as we roll with the punches we should still be able to snag some amazing deals. Prime members will have 48 hours to shop kicking things off on June 21st est} Yes, that’s 3am NYC time, but you better believe my alarm will be set.

Do I need to have a prime membership?

Yes, Prime Day is for Amazon Prime members only. Not a member just yet? Amazon offers a 30-day free trial of Prime membership for shoppers who want to be able to participate in Prime Day. If you are looking to make the most out of this 48-hour spectacular, signing up for a membership is the best way to go. For those online shopping lovers who are looking to save all year-round, the membership is $12.99/month or $119/year ($9.91/month). Students can register at half price for $7 per month.

I like supporting small businesses. How can I do that while shopping Prime Day?

Just as Amazon did last year, shopping lovers will be able to continue to have exposure to small business sellers. During Prime Day this year, more than 300,000 sellers — twice as many as last year — are eligible for the “Spend $10, Get $10” promotion. This promotion means that starting on June 7, shoppers who spend $10 on select small business products and brands will be awarded $10 to use on Prime Day. In addition, Amazon has curated small-business collections so that customers can shop from Black-owned, women-owned and military family-owned small businesses.
