September wacky holidays are so much fun to celebrate. It’s starting to cool down, school is back in session and you are finally getting back into a routine. Summer is fun, but I love the fall months. How about you? Wait until you see all the September wacky holildays there are to celebrate this month. Personally, my favorite September wacky holiday is comic book day but there are so many great ones to check out this month. Let’s get into it.
September 1 – No Rhyme or Reason Day
Start hunting for words without rhyming words (i.e. orange, month). See if you can find close rhymes to words that don’t rhyme with anything (nothing rhymes with purple but hurtful comes pretty close. Now you try.
September 2 – Blueberry Popsicle Day
Whether you decide to purchase a box of blueberry-flavored Popsicles or make your own, it’s sure to be a tasty treat. Make your own with this fun mold
September 3 – Skyscraper Day
Buildings with over 40 stories can be called skyscrapers. Climb to the top of the tallest building in your town. Get out the kids’ building blocks and design your own skyscraper, and then knock it down.
September 4 – Eat an Extra Dessert Day
No explanation needed. Just enjoy! Maybe try a fun pumpkin dessert.
September 5 – Be Late for Something Day
Be late to something on purpose. But be considerate of the people who are waiting for you – call them ahead and let them know you are running late.
September 6 – Fight Procrastination Day
Make a decision. Take action. Do it now. Do it today. It may be hard to do, but you will be glad you did. “Never put off until tomorrow, what you can do today!” …Mark Twain. Grab yourself a cute planner to help you fight off procrastination.
September 7 – National Salami Day
Salami Day honors the delicious and spice cured Italian sausage that is a perfect wine and cheese accompaniment. Celebrate with this sampler
September 8 – Pardon Day
On Pardon Day put aside all your grudges, be kind to everyone and forgive those who have hurt you.
September 9 – Wonderful Weirdos Day
Nothing’s quite as dull as being normal, boring and average. Celebrate being weird and celebrate the weirdos in your life.
September 10 – Swap Ideas Day
Host a favorite things party. Ask everyone to bring their favorite thing for all the other guests. The favorite thing could be a tube of toothpaste, a beverage, or a pen. Set a maximum budget. During the party, swap everyone’s favorite thing with each other.
September 11 – Make Your Bed Day
When you wake up the first thing to do is make your bed. You won’t be tempted to slip back under the covers. Treat yourself to new silky sheets to help celebrate one of the best September wacky holidays.
September 12 – Banana Day
Start your day and end your day with a banana which will give you the potassium you need to see through your day. Since this is a day of celebration, have a banana split!
September 13 – Fortune Cookie Day
What a great cookie! A little slip of paper inside of it brings you good luck, a whimsical saying, or a philosophical thought. Get yourself this tremendous box of 350 fortune cookies and go to town on this delicious treats.
September 14 – Hug Your Hound Day
Take your dog for a long walk or to the dog park to say hello to their friends. Treat them to their favorite treats. And of course, give them a big hug.
September 15 – Make a Hat Day
Don your creative hat, gather your craft supplies, channel the secret milliner in your soul and make yourself a hat. Host a hat contest where everyone makes their own hat and whoever has the best and the most creative hat wins...
September 16 – Play-Doh Day
Play-Doh originally sold as wallpaper cleaner but the world had another use for the product. Play-Doh was inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame in 1998. Grab a couple of cans of play-doh and let your imagination go wild. This is defintely one of the best Sepetember wacky holidays to celebrate with your kids. Get messy and have fun! You can even take it a step further and gift each child with a new play doh set to help them celebrate,
September 17 – Country Music Day
Celebrate by listening to all your favorite country music songs. Have a line-dancing party.
September 18 – Rice Krispie Treat Day
Make Rice Krispies pops – mold the treat into a shape of your choice, insert a stick in the treat and when it hardens serve as is or decorate with melted sugar, icing or sprinkles
September 19 – Talk Like a Pirate Day
Aargh! Talk like a pirate the whole day long. Use grunts and growls in your speech and slur your words. Don’t forget to wear your favorite pirate hat!
September 20 – Pepperoni Pizza Day
Buon Appetito! Celebrate this silly September hoiday by making a delicious pepperoni pizza from scratch using my favorite pizza stone.
September 21 – Miniature Golf Day
Take the kids to the local mini golf course and show them your inner Tiger.
September 22 – White Chocolate Day
The first white chocolate bar was launched in Europe by Nestle. Enjoy your favorite white chocolate delight. Why not enjoy some white chocolate truffles in honor of this delicious occasion?
September 23 – Hobbit Day
Eat! Sing! Go Barefoot. Watch the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy. What’s the best way to celebrate Hobbit day? Having two breakfast, of course! Whip up your two favorite breakfast recipes and celebrate just as Hobbits would.
September 24 – Cherries Jubilee Day
Easy to make your own – black cherries flambéed with brandy or kirsch (not for the little ones) and served over vanilla ice cream.
September 25 – National Comic Book Day
Celebrate the day by reading your comic books, or going out and buying comic books! Today is a great excuse to shop small and support you local book shops.
September 26 – Love Note Day
Leave love notes around your home for your loved one to fine. Hide them in their lunch bag or stick a note on the bathroom mirror so it’s the first thing they see
September 27 – Crush A Can Day
Line up those cans and go crazy on them. Hold a can crushing contest – whoever crushes the most cans gets to take all of them to the recycling center.
September 28 – Ask a Stupid Question Day
Get together with a bunch of friends and write your questions down on a slip of paper and put them into a hat, then pull them out randomly and see what kind of answers you get. Or get yourself this hilarious book.
September 29 – Crazy Hair Day
Pinterest has numerous ideas for you to try on this day.
September 30 – National Chewing Gum Day
Celebrate by buying your favorite brand of gum and chewing it all day (or try a flavor you have never had before). Buy gum from a gumball machine and blow bubbles.
As you can see, theres are lots of wacky September holidays you can celebrate this month. Life is short and finding simple ways to celebrate each day helps to make even life’s smallest moments feel special.
