Father’s Day is celebrated on different days around the world. If you are from the United States like me you know it’s the 3rd Sunday in June. It’s celebrated in September in Australia and in Europe it’s celebrated at a similar time as it is in the U.S. No matter where you are from starting new Father’s Day traditions can help make the Dad in your life feel ever more special. Let’s make the one day out the year as special as possible for all the Fathers in our lives.
Here are some fun Father’s Day traditions to start this year.
Host a party or BBQ
One great tradition to start for Father’s Day is to host a party or BBQ for the Dads. Give them the day off from manning the grill and make them the star of the show. There are so many fun ways you can decorate to make it even more fun.
Create a Photo Book
Every year for Father’s Day I give my husband and Dad a photo book with all the best photos from the year. They have one from every year they became a Dad/Pop Pop and it’s something they both look forward to every single year. Watch the emotion fill their face as they look back on some of their favorite moments from the past year.
Make a handmade gift
Gifts from the heart as always a wonderful touch and make for amazing memories. Why not have your child create a gorgeous handmade gift that Dad is sure to love? Here are some great handmade gift ideas for Dad:
Give him the Day Off
Let’s be honest there are a lot of Dads who work incredibly hard. One great tradition to help him enjoy his Father’s Day to the fullest is to give him the day off to do whatever he wants. I actually got this idea directly from my husband because he started this tradition for me on Mother’s Day a few years back and I LOVE it. He prefers to celebrate with all of us but I’m sure there’s a Dad out there who would love a day to lounge around.
Go to a Sporting Event
On Father’s Day major of the MLB teams host special events for Dads which are incredible. If the NY Mets are playing a home game on Father’s Day that’s where you can find us. It’s tons of fun and makes the Dad feel super special.
Personalized Story Book
We started creating my husband a personalized storybook 3yrs ago and they are still his favorite gifts. There a ton of companies that offer these services but I learn towards put me in the story.
No matter what you decide to do I’m sure Dad will feel extra special this year.!
